Ashley is a Senior Associate in our property and commercial team. Known for his expertise in property related matters, Ashley provides advice and guidance to clients on residential and commercial property acquisition and development, subdivisions, and leasing.

Ashley works with a range of different clients on property, personal and commercial matters, guiding them through the appropriate processes, providing them with clear and relevant advice, and helping them achieve their goals.

His expertise extends to advising local government clients on a wide array of issues, including public works acquisitions, classification and management of reserves, Building Act matters, road and infrastructure management, negotiation of leases and licences, and preparation of easements and land covenants.

Being born and raised in Palmerston North, Ashley has an in-depth knowledge of the area. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Milson and serves on the Board of a local youth health service.

Relevant Experience & Recent Major Projects

  • Acting for the Manawatu and Wairarapa Franchisee of one of the largest national building franchises in the purchase of land for development and the sale of new homes.

  • Negotiation, preparation and implementation of agreements on behalf of Local Authorities relating to the acquisition of land under the Public Works Act 1981 and the exchange of land under the Reserves Act 1977, including the acquisition of land for water supply and wastewater purposes, recreation reserves, road, and local purpose reserves.

  • Acting for a Social Enterprise in the purchase and subdivision of land for the development of affordable housing, including the subdivision of land with bespoke easements and land covenants, and the sale of affordable homes under a range of ownership models.

  • Drafting and preparing bespoke covenant and easement instruments for a range of different purposes, as well as land covenants and easements in gross for Local Authorities.

  • Advising a national tertiary education institution on a range of property related matters including the disposal of high value land, easements for key infrastructure, and commercial leases.
